How the Latin American Jazz Experience Project Started:
Bobby’s tours have taken him to many countries. During these travels he’s met and performed with some amazing musicians. It has long been a goal to perform his own brand of Latin influenced jazz and tour with an international ensemble. This project is a dream come true and it includes musicians based in three different continents (North America, South America, Europe). This international group performs on contemporary and traditional instruments from around the globe.

Bobby Medina (USA/Mexico)

Trumpet, Flugelhorn, Accordion, Vocals, Composer and Arranger. Originally from Los Angeles California, Bobby’s brilliant trumpet has been featured on shows and world tours with such legendary artists as Ray Charles, Mel Torme, Four Tops, Frankie Valli, Temptations, Joan Rivers, Wayne Newton and many others. He has performed for production shows in Las Vegas, on cruise ships, headlined concerts and performs as a soloist with orchestras & big bands around the world. Bobby holds a music degree from California State University at Fullerton and has four cd’s out under his own name.

Santiago Hernandez (Argentina)

Drumset and Percussion. Born and raised in Buenos Aires Santiago received a “World Tour” scholarship from Berklee College of Music where he studied drums, percussion and composition with such well know musicians as Terry Lyne Carrington (drummer Herbie Hancock), Kenwood Dennard (Jaco Pastorius and drummer Miles Davis among others) and Jammey Haddad. His thrilling drum style is frequently called on to back numerous groups in Argentina where he’s also a top call studio drummer. His recent first solo album “Plotting Something” was recorded with renowned musicians from Argentina and centers around Latin American and African rhythms with harmonies of contemporary jazz and a high degree of improvisation .

Pablo Elorza (Argentina)

Electric Bass, Vocals and Arranger. From Villa María, Córdoba, Argentina, Pablo is an exciting bassist the defies categorization. His playing swings and grooves hard and he adds a funky flair to the Latin side of bass playing. He’s in high demand as a studio musician, arranger and bandleader and is the recent winner of the “Made in New York Jazz Competition” in the Composer Category. He’s also the author of educational bass books and video lessons series and has several cd’s out under his own name.

Francisco “Junior” Medina (USA/Puerto Rico)

Congas, Timbales, Bongos and Latin Hand Percussion. Junior’s electrifying percussion playing has been featured for the who’s who of the Latin & salsa worlds. He has performed with many of the world’s top artists including Tito Puente, Oscar De Leon, Jose “El Canario”Alberto, Tito Allen, Grupo Gale, Pink Martini, Sonora Dimanita, Melcochita, Lalo Rodriguez, Azabache and Sonora Carruseles. Junior is a Tycoon percussion artist.

Eric Verlinde (USA/Costa Rica)

Piano, Keyboards, Vocals, Composer and Arranger. Eric is from Seattle Washington and has excited audiences worldwide with his energetic and passionate performances. He has played with Arturo Sandoval, Randy Brecker, Terell Stafford, Mark Murphy, Bryan Lynch, and many others. He is in high demand and is constantly performing, refining the sound and creating new music. His cd’s feature different groups performing music that is pure, creative, spontaneous, superbly structured and melodic.

Guto Lucena (Brasil/Sweden)

Soprano Sax and Alto Sax, Flute and Arranger. From São Paulo, Brazil, Guto’s unique sound and versatility has taken him across the globe. For many years he lived and performed with the biggest names in Portugal. He also performed African music, contemporary jazz and played for many years on a live TV show there. In 2013, he moved to Stockholm, Sweden, to finish his Master’s degree in Jazz Performance at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm – KMH. He has recently released his first solo album, “Gazzi”, where he composed and arranged all the material. Guto is an exciting multi-instrumentalist/arranger/composer who cannot be easily categorized. His influences include the music of his native Brazil, classical, contemporary jazz and much more.
